What Filelane processes

Filelane uses account identifiers and the name, email, and profile information you choose to share through sign-in. Auth0 handles authentication; Google processes Google sign-in if you choose it. The service stores computer names, public encryption keys, account plan and billing identifiers, transfer sizes, timestamps, delivery status, and security information needed to operate and protect sharing.

File content and clipboard items

The app encrypts file content and filenames before upload. Private decryption keys stay on your computers. Cloudflare R2 stores encrypted transfers; DigitalOcean hosts the API and account database. Public-link decryption information is included in the link fragment and processed in the recipient’s browser. Anyone who has the complete public link may access its contents while the link is available. Share links carefully.

Clipboard sharing is explicit: Filelane reads an item when you choose to send it. Receiving an item does not replace your clipboard until you click Copy. Automatically downloaded files are saved only under the receive settings you choose.

Payments

Stripe handles checkout, payment details, subscriptions, invoices, and the billing portal. Filelane receives billing identifiers and subscription status. We do not store full card numbers.

Retention and deletion

New file transfers and public links expire after 3 days on Free and 30 days on Pro, measured from completed upload. Clipboard transfers expire after one hour. Expired or revoked transfers become unavailable, and background cleanup removes encrypted cloud objects. Copies recipients have already downloaded are outside Filelane’s control.

Account, billing, and operational records are retained as needed to provide the service, resolve issues, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations. Restricted backups may retain records until their normal rotation. Contact us to request account deletion or a copy of your account information; we may need to verify your identity.

Website and service providers

The Filelane website remembers your display theme in your browser. This release does not include advertising trackers. Authentication and payment providers use their own necessary cookies and security controls. Service providers may process data in the United States and other places where they operate.

Your choices

You can revoke links, remove connected computers, choose whether files download automatically, and cancel Pro from the app’s billing portal. Contact us about privacy rights available where you live. We do not sell your personal information.

We will update this page when our practices change and provide additional notice where required.
