These terms govern Filelane, operated by Samuel Kimball. By creating an account or using Filelane, you agree to these terms and acknowledge our Privacy Policy. Contact sam@stradmelle.com for support.

Your account and content

You must be legally able to enter this agreement. Keep your account and computers secure, and share only content you have the right to share. You retain your rights in your content and authorize Filelane to store and transmit it to provide the sharing actions you request.

Sharing and storage

Filelane is a transfer service, not a permanent backup. Keep an independent copy of important files. Free includes 1 GB of account storage, two own computers, 3-day file retention, and five download sessions per public link. Pro includes 100 GB, ten own computers, 30-day retention, and twenty download sessions per link. Clipboard items expire after one hour. Encrypted data and metadata use storage space. Limits apply across your account, and a download session may be consumed even if the recipient does not finish saving a file.

There is no monthly transfer-count limit. Technical limits and controls to prevent abuse still apply. Public links are intended for handoffs to a few people, not mass distribution or content hosting. Expiry and revocation cannot remove copies that recipients already saved.

Pro subscriptions

Pro costs $12 USD per month and renews automatically until canceled. Checkout displays the price and any applicable taxes before you authorize payment. Manage payment details or cancel in the Stripe billing portal opened from Filelane. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your paid billing period. After a downgrade, existing files retain their original expiry; new uploads and additional computers must fit the Free allowance.

Contact support about duplicate charges, billing errors, or a refund request. Nothing in these terms limits mandatory consumer rights that apply to you.

Acceptable use

Do not use Filelane to distribute malware, unlawful material, or content that infringes others’ rights; evade limits; access someone else’s account; or interfere with the service. We may restrict abusive activity or suspend accounts where reasonably needed to protect users, comply with law, or address violations.

Availability and responsibility

We work to keep Filelane available, but interruptions and errors can occur. To the extent permitted by law, the service is provided as available without a guarantee of uninterrupted or error-free operation. You are responsible for selecting recipients, safeguarding complete share links, and keeping backups. These terms do not exclude obligations or liabilities that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Changes and ending use

You can stop using the service and request account deletion at any time. Cancel an active subscription through the billing portal as well. We may update these terms or the service, with notice where required; price changes apply only after the required notice and billing process.
