Switch to the app you are working in and paste. Clipboard items must be copied before their one-hour expiry; they do not continuously sync.
Animated recreation of Filelane’s interface with example content. Layout adapts to your screen. This is an illustration, not a recording or speed test. Nothing is read from your files or clipboard.
Both computers need Filelane and a confirmed connection. Use your own account on your devices, or connect a person who has their own account.
Copy plain text, a URL or an image in the app you are working in. Make sure it is the item you intend to share before using Filelane’s clipboard action.
In Filelane, choose the clipboard action for the intended computer. This sends the chosen clipboard item; it does not keep your clipboards synchronized. Wait for the upload to finish.
On the receiving computer, find the incoming clipboard item and click Copy. Then paste into the app you are using. Received items do not automatically replace the recipient’s clipboard.

Choose Add computer → Connect a person. Share the invitation and separate access code, then compare the verification fingerprint together. They use their own account. Only the computers you connect become destinations; no shared password is needed.
Connected guest computers do not use your own-computer allowance. Transfers still use the sender’s available storage.
For files and folders, create a public link. Your recipient downloads without an account. For public downloads above 256 MiB, use Chrome or Edge on a computer; other browsers support up to 256 MiB at a time.
Clipboard handoffs use the app at both ends. Anyone with a complete public link can open its files while it is available.
Move a URL from your work Mac to your own PC. Send a short editing note to a collaborator. Share an image you have copied without first building a file-delivery folder.
The computers can be on different networks. A connected friend uses their own Filelane account; only the computers you connect become destinations. This is useful for deliberate handoffs between people as well as your own devices.
Clipboard items are available for one hour after upload on both Free and Pro. The receiver must copy the item before it expires. For something they will need later, send a saved file instead.

| What you need to move | A good choice | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A URL or a short note | Clipboard text | The recipient can Copy and paste into their current app. |
| An image already on your clipboard | Clipboard image | Send the copied image to a confirmed computer. |
| A formatted document, original image file or project folder | File or folder transfer | Send the actual files when original formats, filenames or supporting assets matter. |
| A delivery for someone without Filelane | A public file link | Clipboard handoffs require the app at both ends; file links can open in a browser. |
Filelane reads the clipboard when you choose to send. Changing your clipboard afterward does not change the delivered item. Receiving an item leaves the other computer’s clipboard alone until its user clicks Copy.
For nearby Apple devices signed into the same Apple Account, Apple’s Universal Clipboard provides a built-in copy-and-paste workflow with its own device and connectivity requirements. Filelane’s separate send-and-copy workflow also supports Windows and connected people using different Filelane accounts.

No. Clipboard sharing is explicit: Filelane reads an item when you choose the clipboard action. It does not automatically send every clipboard change.
Only after they choose Copy for the received item. The item waits for that action; Filelane does not paste it into an app automatically.
One hour after upload on both plans. This is shorter than file retention. If it expires, send it again or send a saved file.
Use the clipboard for plain text and images. Send the original document as a file when formatting, structure or source-file details need to be preserved.
Start free with 1 GB of account storage. Connect your own computers or invite a friend using their own account.
