Send large files and project folders from your desktop.
Use Filelane on Mac or Windows to turn a prepared project folder into a download link. Your client opens it in a browser without an account. Start with 1 GB of free account storage; upgrade when your working set needs more room.
Mac: macOS 13+ · Apple silicon & Intel
Windows: 10+ · x64 · unsigned publisher beta
One project folder. One link for your client.
You use the desktop app. They use their browser.
Select the files and download the folder as a ZIP. Keep the browser open until saving finishes. The link delivers this version of the folder; later edits require a new delivery.
Illustrative interface and example files. Transfer times vary with file size and your connection. This demo does not upload files.

- Install Filelane and sign in on your sending computer. Prepare a folder with source artwork, exports and a readme. The 480 MB example requires enough unused account storage plus space for metadata.
- Drop the folder into Public links. Keep the computer online until the upload finishes.
- Copy the complete link and send it privately to the intended recipient using your usual conversation.
- The recipient opens the link without a Filelane account or app. For this 480 MB example, use Chrome or Edge on a computer.
- Select the files and download the folder as a ZIP. Keep the browser open until saving finishes. The link delivers this version of the folder; later edits require a new delivery.
From your desktop to their download.
The sender needs Filelane and an account. The recipient only needs a supported browser.
Prepare the package
Put the files you want to send into a folder, or select them together. Check the space available in My cloud: your other stored transfers share the same account allowance.
Upload and copy the link
In Filelane, drop the package into Public links. Keep the sender online until upload finishes, then copy the complete link and send it through your usual conversation.
They open and save
The recipient opens the link without a Filelane account, selects the files and downloads before expiry. Multiple files and folders arrive as a ZIP. Keep the browser open until saving finishes.
The source files.
The exports.
The readme.
A design delivery can include editable sources, PDF exports and preview images. A drawing set can include the prepared project files and a readme. A video handoff can include the export and supporting assets, provided the package fits your available storage.
Filelane transfers the files you prepare. It does not compress images into lower-quality versions, convert proprietary formats or collect missing project dependencies for you. Include the supporting files and compatible previews your recipient needs.
Use a public link for a client or occasional recipient. For repeated handoffs with your own Mac or Windows computer, connect it once and send directly to its Filelane tile instead.
Prepare a large project folder for delivery.
Brand delivery
- Source artwork/Editable files and required linked assets
- PDF exports/Previews the client can open easily
- Readme.txtVersion, contents and opening instructions
Check these before copying the link
- Save your work and include the supporting assets your recipient needs.
- Check the unused space in My cloud. This example needs 480 MB plus encrypted metadata, within your shared account allowance.
- Wait until the upload is complete. Copy the full link and send it to the intended recipient.
- Tell them to use Chrome or Edge on a computer for this example, because it exceeds 256 MiB.
The recipient’s next step
Open the link, select the files and download the folder as a ZIP. Extract it to see the contents. No Filelane account is needed. Keep the browser open until saving finishes and download before the link expires.
When a link is the right choice
A link suits a client or occasional recipient. For repeated transfers to your own computer, use a connected Mac or Windows PC. Filelane requires the sender’s desktop app; it does not offer a browser upload form.
How large is “large”? Check your available space.
Free includes 1 GB of cloud storage for your account; Pro includes 100 GB. These are shared storage allowances, not a promise that every individual file can be that size. Existing transfers and encrypted metadata also use space.
Check My cloud before a large upload. For example, a Free account already using 700 MB has less than 300 MB of capacity left for the next transfer and its metadata. Choose a plan that fits your working set, and keep your original files.
For public downloads larger than 256 MiB, the recipient should use Chrome or Edge on a computer to save directly to disk. Other browsers support up to 256 MiB at a time. Read the receiving guidance ↗
A handoff that can wait for them.
Once upload finishes, your recipient can download later: within three days on Free or thirty days on Pro. Expired or revoked links stop future downloads; copies already saved remain with the recipient. Keep your originals and use Filelane for delivery.

Does the recipient need an account?
A public-link recipient does not need to sign up or install Filelane. The sender installs Filelane and signs in. If you choose a connected-computer transfer instead, the receiving computer also uses the app.
Can I send folders or several files at once?
Yes. Keep a project folder together or select multiple files for one public link. The browser delivers folders and multi-file selections as a ZIP that the recipient can extract.
Is the storage allowance per file or per account?
Per account. All active transfers share the allowance, including encrypted data and metadata. Free includes 1 GB; Pro includes 100 GB. There is no monthly transfer-count cap, but storage and link limits still apply.
Does my computer need to stay on?
Keep it online until the upload finishes. After that, the recipient can download from the cloud within the transfer’s availability window, even if your computer is offline.
Can I update a folder through the same link?
A link delivers the package you uploaded. It does not follow later changes to the source folder. Create a new delivery for a revised version, and revoke the old link if you no longer want it used.
Can I use a link for a large public audience?
Public links are for limited handoffs. Free allows five download sessions per link; Pro allows twenty. A session can count even if the save does not finish. Filelane is not a permanent download host or a backup service.
